Brussels/London, 15 July 2020. Today The Air Charter Association (The ACA) and the European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) issued a warning to the Business Aviation sector regarding an increase in online fraud, as the charter market opens up to new and returning users.

The EU's new Entry/Exit System (EES) replaces passport stamping with digital registration, enhancing border security and efficiency for non-EU nationals entering/exiting the Schengen Area and impacting compliance requirements for aviation stakeholders.

EUROCONTROL’s think paper no 12 on cybersecurity indicates that airlines continue to be an irresistible target for cybercriminals, with around $1 billion a year lost from fraudulent websites alone.

The uptake of digital technologies has grown exponentially in the last months since the beginning of the COVID19 pandemic. Since it is one of the key priorities in the European Digital Strategy by the European Commission, Business aviation is also gradually being immersed into digitalisation and needs to build cyber-resilience.

Brussels, 16 December 2020 – Today, a global group of leading business aviation organizations announced a coordinated effort to combat illegal on-demand charter flights in the sector. The group, called the Air Charter Safety Alliance, will raise awareness among potential customers, charter brokers, ministries of transport, and national aviation authorities regarding the use of unauthorized aircraft operators for on-demand flights.

The internet and the ability to work online is a blessing where most the work is being conducted remotely. Imagine that the COVID19 Pandemic had occurred 20 years ago in a time when we were not so well connected. However, there is a downside, scamming and internet fraud is on the rise.

The summer and early Autumn months have seen an uptick in members joining the EBAA, with many citing EBAA’s bolstered data services and operational updates as a reason for joining.
