21 May 2021, Brussels. Today the European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) cautiously welcomes the provisional agreement for an EU Digital COVID19 Certificate and urges EU and EFTA Member States to implement the agreement swiftly and in a harmonised manner across the board.

The aviation industry announced that – to build on its already impressive scope of activities for reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions – they are establishing the Council on Sustainable Aviation Fuels Accountability (CoSAFA), which is intended to accelerate the industry’s movement toward further decarbonizing aviation and increasing the adoption of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF).

Since the beginning of 2021, the European Commission (EC) has been discussing moving to the next stages in the U-Space regulation. On 23 February, a voting session took place, and the U-Space Regulatory package has been approved.

In late February 2021, EASA published the agency’s annual Air Ops Risk Review for 2020. The document contains a summary of the previous year from a safety perspective and a description of key tasks for EASA in 2021.

The 5G deployment will require an increasing number of spectrum frequencies and may cause interferences with radio altimeters. While no immediate action is required, EBAA, EASA and EUROCONTROL closely monitor this potential issue.

The EUROCONTROL Voluntary ATM Incident Reporting (EVAIR) team is honoured to have this opportunity to address EBAA and its members. EVAIR has been in existence for almost 15 years now and as the first voluntary ATM incident data collection scheme, it is organised at a pan-European level.

Due to the COVID19 pandemic across the globe, the implementation deadline for Pilot Peer Support Programmes (PPSP) was postponed to February 2021, allowing operators to get a better feeling of how their crews feel about such an initiative.
